Muneyi is a multi-award–winning singer-songwriter whose music creates space for healing, reflection, and honest storytelling. Rooted in folktales, childhood memories, and the wisdom of his elders, his sound blends tradition with modern textures. A 2025 Standard Bank Young Artist, he writes with emotional depth—earning the 2024 PanSALB Award for songwriting. His debut album, Makhulu (2021), explored love, loss, and healing, followed by the intimate EP For The Boys I Like (2023). His latest project, There’s A Burning Sensation Where My Heart Used To Be (2025), continues his journey of self-reflection and forgiveness.
Born in Tshilapfene near Thohoyandou, Muneyi discovered his voice through language—debate, public speaking, and storytelling—before picking up the guitar after school and expressing his truth in Tshivenda. He has shared stages with leading South African artists, including Sho Madjozi, Msaki, Zoë Modiga, Nduduzo Makhathini, and Nonku Phiri, and collaborates with fellow folk innovators such as Kekelingo and Leomile to build a supportive, community-driven movement in contemporary folk music.
