Mx Blouse is a South African alternative rap artist based in Johannesburg. Known for blending South African dance sounds like kwaito and house with R&B, jazz, and lo-fi, Mx Blouse describes their current style as “homebody blues.” Their lyrics explore intimacy, spirituality, and self-awareness, exemplified in the latest EP, Emotional Home (2024).
Their debut EP, Re: Mx (2019), featured critically acclaimed singles like No Match, named one of Apple Music’s 100 Best Songs of 2019, and Papgeld, which reached #33 on Tidal’s global Best Electronic chart. The follow-up, Elementality (2020), earned praise from multiple publications and was playlisted on BBC 6.
