TransAtlantic Jazz Exchange (TAJE) bridges African and Diaspora musicians through jazz, fostering artistic growth, cross-cultural understanding, and lasting connections. Since 2023, TAJE has brought musicians together for collaborative playing, composing, and teaching.
Master classes featured South African multi-instrumentalist Mark Fransman and legendary American saxophonist Rene McLean at the University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) and the Jackie McLean Jazz Institute (USA). Students gained hands-on experience, performing and learning directly from these mentors, exploring African diaspora music traditions, techniques, and styles in an immersive, interactive setting.
