Pearl Afrika (born Nomhle Nongogo) is a South African singer, songwriter, and performing artist known for her soulful expression and commitment to addressing societal issues through music. Born in Aliwal North and raised in Gqeberha, she discovered her passion for music at age 12, performing in local music and church gospel groups. Her debut album, Ikhwezi, earned her two SAMA nominations for Best Female Artist and Best Adult Contemporary Artist.
Pearl moved to Johannesburg in 2001 to pursue her music career, joining the gospel group Oracles and later becoming a prominent member of Joyous Celebration for three years, performing on stages worldwide. She has also lent her powerful vocals as a backing singer to iconic artists such as HHP, UNATHI, Thandiswa Mazwai, Sonti Mndebele Jr., Lundi, Kholeka, Asanda Bam, and international acts including Luciano, Fantan Moja, and Anthony B.
