Sphelelo Mazibuko is a Johannesburg-based studio engineer, drum technician, music educator, and accomplished drummer. Born into a family of musicians, he began playing drums at 14 and pursued a BA in Music and Media Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, studying under renowned jazz educators Neil Gonsalves and Bruce Baker.
Mazibuko has performed and recorded with top South African artists, including Lloyd Cele, Dorothy Masuka, Steve Dyer, Nduduzo Makhathini, and the late Sifiso Ncwane. His freelance work has taken him across South Africa and internationally, performing at festivals such as the Cape Town International Jazz Festival, Durban Jazz Festival, Macufe Music Festival, MIDEM (France), Jazz Ahead (Germany), and Musique en été (Switzerland). He is also a member of the progressive band Africa Plus and runs Anavo Pro, a production company providing live music entertainment and audiovisual solutions.
